The City of Palmdale is excited to offer residents the chance to give their old electronics a second life at a free drive-thru recycling event on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the northwest parking lot of the Palmdale Transportation Center, located at 39000 Clock Tower Plaza Dr.
This easy-access collection event allows residents to dispose of old or damaged electronics from their vehicles, diverting waste from local landfills. Organizers will accept various devices, including laptops, tablets, cell phones, monitors and assorted cables or wires. However, the event will not accept household batteries, lightbulbs, medical waste or other hazardous materials. All items will be recycled at no cost to prevent toxic substances from contaminating the soil and water supply.
“Accessible renewable solutions are essential to protecting our environment,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “We’re proud to ensure that our residents have the resources available to properly do their part in keeping the community clean.”
The event is presented in partnership with Homeboy Electronics Recycling, which provides on-the-job training and employment for people who face systemic barriers to work, along with gang rehabilitation and re-entry program support.
Palmdale hosts frequent community recycling events to help residents dispose of hazardous waste and partners with certified organizations, such as Homeboy Electronics, to ensure responsible e-waste processing. These programs ensure valuable materials are recovered and reused while preventing toxic substances from entering the environment.
The drive-thru event is open to all residents within the city limits and does not require an appointment.
