When recording the landmark 1972 release, Will the Circle Be Unbroken, icons of bluegrass, country and country rock convened: Roy Acuff, Doc Watson, Merle Travis, Jimmy Martin, Earl Scruggs, Vassar Clements and Maybelle Carter.
