“Herbie reunites for the first time in 50 years with the original lineup of Harvey Mason, Bennie Maupin, and Bill Summers, with Marcus Miller standing in for the late Paul Jackson.”

Herbie Hancock’s 1973 album Head Hunters, created with the goal of making something lighter, funkier, and more danceable, became one of the greatest albums of all time according to Rolling Stone and a best-selling jazz album in history.

By bringing a funk sensibility to jazz, Herbie and the Headhunters turned jazz into a pop phenomenon, serving up their complex rhythm experiments in an easy-to-understand package that became an immediate dance-floor favorite and a source of samples for hip-hop producers.

Fifty years later, Herbie reunites with all of the original players from the Head Hunters recording for the first time since 1973:

Harvey Mason, Bennie Maupin, and Bill Summers, plus bassist Marcus Miller, who fills in for the late Paul Jackson, for their only appearance together, making it a must-see event for jazz enthusiasts.
