National Different Colored Eyes Day

Today is National Different Colored Eyes Day!
Do you or does anyone you know have two different colored eyes? Today, we recognize those who do!
Did you know that having two different colored eyes is a condition called Heterochromia?
This is actually a lot more common than you might think!
Christopher Walken, Jane Seymour, Mila Kunis, and the late David Bowie (RIP) are just a few celebrities that are known to have two different colored eyes.
There are three types of Heterochromia:
· Complete heterochromia – one iris is a different color from the other.
· Partial heterochromia or sectoral heterochromia – part of one iris is a different color from the rest of the iris.
· Central heterochromia – an inner ring is a different color than the rest of the iris.
Most cases of heterochromia are hereditary, caused by a disease or syndrome or due to an injury. It is possible that just one eye may change color following certain diseases or injuries.
Whatever the case may be, we recognize this unique trait today!
