Featured Day Trip ☀️🌼

🌴 Desert Trails & Hidden Oases: A Palm Springs Escape
Location: Palm Springs, CA
[Get Directions ➔]

Good day local adventurers, Thomas here with another valley escape.

Just under three hours from the Antelope Valley, Palm Springs is a perfect fall retreat - a sunlit desert framed by rugged mountains, mid-century charm, and endless blue skies. Whether you’re up for adventure or a relaxed weekend, this oasis always delivers.

Start your morning in Tahquitz Canyon or Indian Canyons, where fan palms and desert blooms line scenic trails. Feeling ambitious? The Cactus to Clouds Trail climbs more than 10,000 feet from downtown to Mount San Jacinto - one of California’s most challenging hikes.

Prefer an easier ascent? The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway reopens October 13, 2025 after its annual maintenance (Sept 8–Oct 12). The 10-minute ride lifts you from the valley to 8,516 ft for sweeping views and alpine air.

Refuel with coffee at Koffi or brunch at Elmer’s Restaurant, then wander Palm Canyon Drive for vintage shops, art galleries, and desert design. As the sun sets, grab a drink at Truss & Twine or Las Palmas Brewing and watch the desert glow fade into starlight.

This month, the Tram Road Challenge returns October 18, 2025, along with the annual Snow Guessing Contest starting October 1 - both local favorites at the tram’s mountain station.

When night falls, the desert sky transforms - bright stars over San Jacinto, calm air, and that unmistakable Palm Springs magic.

Thomas’s Local Tips:
  • 🌴 Start early - mornings are cooler and quieter.
  • 🕶️ Hydrate steadily - desert air is deceptive, even in fall.
  • 🚠 Confirm tram status - it reopens Oct 13, but delays are possible
  • 📸 Golden hour is real - shoot 30 minutes before sunset in canyons or ridgelines.
  • 🌵 Respect the desert - stay on trails, pack out what you pack in.
Nature's calling, it's time to pick up... See you out there!

Talk to you soon, AV Friends!

The desert’s cooling down, but the AV’s just heating up. 🌵✨

This week is your open invitation - to slow down, look around, and find those little sparks that make the valley feel alive.

So what’s on your to-do list? Maybe it’s tacos on Tuesday, pumpkins on Thursday, or wine and film beneath the stars at the vineyard.

Whatever you choose, make it something that fills your story - not just your schedule. 🌙

P.S. Movies in the Vineyard: Bottle Shock is playing at AV Winery - one of those nights that pairs perfectly with good company and a little Cabernet. 🍷🎬
