Just about 2 hours from Lancaster, the Riverside Festival of Lights transforms the historic Mission Inn Hotel into a dazzling wonderland of over 5 million lights each holiday season. Running annually from late November through early January, this beloved Southern California tradition draws visitors from across the region to experience one of the nation's largest holiday lighting displays. The centerpiece is the stunning Spanish Revival Mission Inn, adorned with animated light displays, enormous ornaments, and a spectacular switch-on ceremony that kicks off the season.

The festival spans several blocks of downtown Riverside, where the streets come alive with holiday cheer. Stroll through the pedestrian-friendly Main Street promenade to admire elaborate light installations, festive window displays, and seasonal decorations adorning historic buildings. The Mission Inn itself offers self-guided tours during the festival, allowing you to explore its legendary architecture, chapel, and courtyards all decked out for the holidays. • 📸 Best photo spots – The corner of Mission Inn Avenue and Orange Street offers iconic shots of the entire illuminated facade. For fewer crowds in your photos, visit on weeknights rather than weekends.
