A journey down Elizabeth Lake Road and also Munz Ranch Road offers a breathtaking wildflower experience just a short drive to the outskirts of town. The area has recently transformed into a colorful tapestry featuring sky lupine, golden yarrow, fiddleneck, shooting stars, and the iconic California poppies that blanket hillsides in brilliant orange. The picturesque drive through winding roads rewards visitors with sweeping vistas of wildflower-covered hillsides that suddenly appear around bends.

When visiting this natural wonder, remember to practice Leave No Trace principles. Always stay on established trails to protect delicate ecosystems, leave wildflowers and plants undisturbed so others can enjoy them, and take only photographs as souvenirs. Go stretch your legs, soak up the colors, and take a deep breath of that fresh desert bloom air.

Visitors should also stay alert for wildlife, particularly rattlesnakes. In spring, rattlesnakes emerge from hibernation and become active in the warmer months of April and May.
