Enjoy a Weekend at the MOAH
The Museum of Art and History is just one of Downtown Lancaster's many gems. Since 1986, the MOAH has been bringing awareness, enhancing accessibility and igniting the appreciation of art, history and culture through dynamic exhibitions, innovative educational programs, creative community engagement and a vibrant collection that celebrates our home, the Antelope Valley.

Check out the calendar for events happening this weekend at the MOAH and around the AV.
Featured Events
Celebrate Lancaster at the MOAH on Lancaster Blvd.

Celebrate Lancaster highlights various features of culture throughout the region’s existence, spanning from prehistory to contemporary times. Key characteristics of life in Lancaster will be accentuated through displays of archival records and three-dimensional objects from MOAH’s permanent collection, detailing the area’s transition from a small western town into an official California city. Primary themes include: paleoindian and prehistoric archaeology, early pioneers and colonizers, local industries such as mining, railroads and agriculture, traditional fairs and festivals and other ephemera contributing to the distinctiveness of this high-desert settlement.

Highlighting the moments in Lancaster’s history that make it a unique cultural destination, Celebrate Lancaster tells the story of the City’s inimitable heritage, valuable to both local residents and visitors to the region.

Imagen Angeleno at the MOAH (Museum of Art & History) on Lancaster Blvd.

In celebration of the Getty Museum’s Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative, which is a far-reaching and ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles, MOAH presents its winter exhibition, Imagen Angeleno. The Main Gallery will feature a special exhibition, Dark Progressivism: The Built Environment. Inspired by the 2016 documentary film Dark Progressivism, this exhibition highlights the street and public art movements that characterize Los Angeles’ Southland. Dark Progressivism: The Built Environment answers the question of which movements are shaping 21st century art with a multi-faceted approach that looks to the streets of LA, where innovations in design and the idea of vandalism as a form of artistic resistance are embedded in the city’s identity.
