DESCRIPTION:The Elyze Clifford Interpretive Center at the Prime Desert Wood
 land Preserve is proud to celebrate the opening of a new permanent exhibit
 ion on Saturday\, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The interpretive center p
 roject\, designed by the Lancaster Museum of Art and History\, is phase on
 e of a multi-phase improvement initiative in anticipation of the annexatio
 n of an additional twenty acres of walking trails\, signage and infrastruc
 ture to the preserve. \n\nThe new exhibition explores each of the major i
 nterpretive areas the center has traditionally included such as fauna\, fl
 ora\, geology\, native peoples and historical figures while increasing aud
 ience engagement in a much more interactive experience. New to the interpr
 etive center is a petroglyph and pictograph wall where visitors are invite
 d to make their own pictographs in chalk\, an excavation station which inc
 ludes replica bones\, artifacts and actual geodes\, an expanded library an
 d reading area for children and adults\, regular workshops inspired by the
  landscape and a reimagined touch table where guests can actually feel rea
 l animal hides\, horns and antlers.\nThis opening celebration will include
  special craft workshops\, new interpretive center merchandise\, light ref
 reshments and additional entertainment emphasizing the uniqueness of the p
 reserve. \n\nThis project has been generously supported by the Lancaster 
 Museum and Public Art Foundation\, Signs and Designs\, Lancaster Community
  Services Foundation and the City of Lancaster. \nThe Preserve consists o
 f an area larger than 120 acres of uninterrupted desert landscape with ove
 r three miles of trails. The Elyze Clifford Interpretive Center is open ev
 ery Wednesday\, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be reac
