 n Miller in 1938\, a big band that would soon take the nation by storm. Wh
 at was unusual about this big band is that the arrangements were built aro
 und the winning combination of a clarinet and tenor saxophone playing the 
 melody while the remaining saxophones play harmony. In 1939\, the Glenn Mi
 ller Orchestra really hit it big with their biggest hits… “Moonlight S
 erenade” and “In the Mood.”\n\nBy 1946\, the Glenn Miller band had 3
 1 top hits and a record eight number-one hits in a single calendar year. G
 lenn Miller’s career was cut short when his plane disappeared on Decembe
 r 15\, 1944\, from a departure from the United Kingdom to Paris. The Mille
 r Estate formed the present Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1956 and has been to
 uring consistently since. Today the orchestra is led by Erik Stabnau and t
