DESCRIPTION:Quartz Hill – The public is invited to a new exhibit by artis
 t Karyl Newman\, entitled\n“Selections From the Waste Wunderkammer”.\n
 \nFor five years\, artist Karyl Newman has been documenting and collecting
  pieces for the\nWaste Wunderkammer\, a lay-archaeologist and anthropologi
 st's view of our eco-relationship with\nthe Mojave Desert. A wunderkammer 
 is a cabinet of curiosities\, a repository for wondrous and\nexotic object
 s.\n\nThis exhibit at the Antelope Valley Conservancy will display Waste\n
 Wunderkammer items along with geo-located photographs and research into th
 eir origins. There\nare also interactive displays and activities about our
  desert ecosystem\, the impacts of discarded\ntrash\, and regional wildlif
 e. The exhibit is kid friendly for ages 8 and older.\n\nThe exhibition is 
 part of the Maiden LA county-wide survey of art happenings\, encouraging\n
 the use of alternative community spaces as a platform for generative disco
 urse and exchange.\nThe Antelope Valley Conservancy will be open to the pu
 blic on September 8\, September 22\,\nOctober 6\, and October 23\, as well
  as by appointment.\nMs. Newman will present artist talks on\nSeptember 22
  as part of National Public Lands Day and on October 23.\n\nContact the co
