 istoric Park (SHP) will host author Amanda LaPera on March 22 at Book Time
  at the Butte\, the museum’s weekly reading event for families. LaPera w
 rites books about young people coming of age in the Antelope Valley who\, 
 through hope and resilience\, are able to overcome trauma.\n\nMarch 22\, a
 t 11:30 a.m.\, 1 and 2:30 p.m\n\n$3 for ages 13 and older\, free for child
 ren 12 and under.\n\nCalifornia fourth-grade students attending a public s
 chool and their families can attend for free with the California State Par
 k Adventure Pass.\n\nAuthor Amanda LaPera grew up in Lake Los Angeles in t
 he 1980s and 1990s. Drawing on her own experiences\, she recreates the Ant
 elope Valley of that era in her “Desert of Dreams” young adult series\
 , capturing what life was like in the community while it was still being b
 uilt. During the event\, LaPera will read excerpts from her books.\n\n&nbs
