DESCRIPTION:In recognition of the 2019 Law Appreciation Day\, the community
  will once again honor outstanding members of the Law Enforcement and Lega
 l Community. For the 61st year\, the celebration is open to the public and
  will be held in the H.W. Hunter Pavilion at the AV Fair & Event Center on
  Friday\, May 3\, 2019.  This event is presented by the Antelope Valley B
 ar Association\, California Highway Patrol\, and Friends of the Antelope V
 alley Fair.\n\n   \n\nReturning as The Master of Ceremonies will be Mr. 
 Gordon Graham who is a well-respected attorney\, consultant\, lecturer\, a
 uthor\, and retired CHP Commander. Gordon has a vast array of personal law
  enforcement experience spanning over two decades as a parole officer\, fi
 eld sergeant and more. \n\n \n\nA no-host bar and lunch will be served a
 t 11:30 a.m. and the program will begin at noon.  During the luncheon\, s
 peech presentations will be made by local high school students who were th
 e top three finalists of a previously held speech contest addressing this 
 years’ contest theme\, ”Free Speech\, Free Press\, Free Society”. Th
 e finalists\; Herina Kim\, Julieann Simbulah\, and Samuel Zhu will be comp
 eting for one $1\,000.00 check and two $500.00 checks. \n\n \n\nAwards o
 f appreciation will be given to Law Enforcement Officers and members of th
 e Legal Community \n\nin the several  categories including: Antelope Val
 ley Parole Agent of the Year awards\, California \n\nDepartment of Correc
 tions Correctional Officer of the Year\, California Highway Patrol Officer
  of the Year\, Kern County Sheriff’s Department Deputy of the Year\, Los
  Angeles County Sheriff’s Department \n\n(Lancaster Station) Deputy of 
 the Year\, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (Palmdale Station) \
 n\nDeputy of the Year\, Los Angeles County Probation Officer of the Year\,
  District Attorney of the Year\, \n\nAlternate Public Defender of the Yea
 r\, Judge of the Year\, Trial Attorney of the Year\, Past President of the
  Antelope Valley Bar Association\, Trial Attorney of the Year and the Phil
 ip M. Schwabacher Award. The Antelope Valley Sheriffs’ Boosters will als
 o present the “Fallen Hero” scholarship.   \n\n \n\nThis event is m
 ade possible by the generous support of several local businesses and resid
 ents. Table sponsorships ranging from $1000.00 to $500.00 are still availa
 ble. Individual tickets are just $25.00 and are available now and at the d
