SUMMARY:12\,000 Years of History in the Antelope Valley
DESCRIPTION:Join us in person at the Transition Habitat Conservancy office
or via Zoom for a 1-hour presentation by Dr. Bruce Love. Dr. Bruce Love (U
CLA 1986) is a practicing archaeologist and anthropologist with forty year
s of experience in the Antelope Valley and Southern California.\n\nIn his
own words: The focus of my talk is the great time depth of Native American
occupation of the Antelope Valley\, from more than 12\,000 years ago to t
he present\, with no break. Our Native allies tell us they have been here
since the beginning of time and that the archaeologists are just now begin
ning to prove it. When I started here in the '80s\, the oldest sites were
2\,000 years old. Now they are 12\,000 years old\, and there is virtually
nowhere that doesn't show evidence of past occupation. This one-hour slide
show takes us to archaeological sites throughout the Antelope Valley and a
lso introduces the audience to the living descendants who rightfully claim
unbroken historical descent from the earliest peoples.
