LANCASTER, Calif. – California State Park’s Antelope Valley Indian Museum State Historic Park (SHP) will host Native artist Rowan D. Harrison from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday September 28, 2019. Rowan will share his art with museum visitors and answer their questions.

Rowan D. Harrison (Navajo/Pueblo of Isleta) is a potter and painter. He coils and burnishes his pottery by hand. He paints his pottery free-hand using designs inspired by his cultural heritage and those of other cultures from around the world. In addition to his ceramics, Rowan also creates pen and ink drawings extrapolated from his pottery designs. His artwork has won awards at the Prescott Indian Art Market, Santa Fe Indian Market, Hillcrest Festival of Fine Arts, and the Heard Museum’s Indian Fair and Market.

Directions: From the 14 Freeway in Lancaster, go east on Avenue K to 150th Street East. Turn right and go south for two miles to Avenue M. Turn left and go east on Avenue M for 1 mile to the museum.

The Antelope Valley Indian Museum SHP exhibits over 4,000 objects created by the American Indian peoples of southern California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Visitors also enjoy the nature trail, gift shop, and picnic area.

Admission Details: Admission: $3 for adults. Children 12 and under are free.
